Back Pain
Back PainMost episodes of back pain are caused by muscle strain. When injured, the large muscles in the low back can become inflamed and spasm, causing low back pain and significant stiffness. For some people, the source of their back or neck pain may be the facet joints-pairs of small joints at each vertebral level of the spine.

What Causes Back Pain?
The most common problem is back injury from incorrect lifting techniques or other accidents. Another cause is chair posture, for most people, it is quite a challenge to maintain good posture while sitting in an office chair and working for long hours in front of a computer. Both the abdominal muscles in the front of the spine and the back muscles in the back of the spine work to hold the body erect. Forward leaning posture - hunching forward while sitting in an office chair - distorts this balancing system and places considerable strain on the back. The back muscles are continuously working to maintain the body in an upright posture while sitting.
What Can I Do About Back Pain?
Depending on whether you have an injury or not, it can be a matter of correcting posture and exercising your back and adominal muscles to give better support. To avoid the natural tendency to hunch forward while sitting in an office chair place a tennis ball between the middle back and the office chair on each side of the spine.
