Bladder Infection (Cystitis)
Bladder-InfectionA bladder infection falls under the umbrella of Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) and is more specifically called Cystitis. Infections can occur when bacteria normally present in the urethra make their way up into the bladder, causing irritation and inflammation. Bacteria can also make its way up into the kidneys, with this infection known as Pyelonephritis.
Cystitis is more commonly seen in women than men. It can occur due to the presence of other diseases such as urinary obstruction or reflux, due to renal calculi (stones), prostatic enlargement, pregnancy or tumors. Women are often sufferers due to the anatomical position of the urethra and bladder, and due to wearing tight synthetic underwear or tight clothing.

other information
It's important to drink lots of water as each time you urinate, the bladder cleanses itself. Cranberry, in the form of juice or a concentrated tablet or capsule also has been shown to have positive effects on urinary tract infections. Vitamin C may also be recommended, along with beneficial bacteria such as lactobacillus acidophilus to aid in killing off 'bad' bacteria while increasing beneficial or 'good' bacteria. This will also aid in keeping the urinary tract healthy and preventing reoccurance of cystitis.
To be most effective, nutritional supplements work better in combination. It may be more beneficial to take a variety of Herbs or Nutrients for more rapid and complete healing...
