About BioGest
BioGest is a herbal cream designed to rebalance female hormonal health naturally. BioGest is used by Australian women as a natural alternative for the relief of symptoms of menopause and PMS.
The major ingredients in BioGest, Wild yam herb and Rose geranium and Sage essential oils have been individually used throughout history to restore hormonal balance upset by the effects of the menstrual cycle and menopause.
BioGest contains several important additional ingredients essential for optimal action. These are vitamin E, Flaxseed oil and a homoeopathic dilution of both Wild yam and progesterone. These ingredients act in synergy with the Wild yam extract.
The active ingredients in BioGest are mixed into a unique cream base designed to optimise the absorption of the active ingredients. The cream is vegetable-based and contains no petrochemical active ingredients. BioGest has excellent moisturising properties, feels wonderful on the skin, and is readily absorbed.
BioGest differs from most Wild yam creams in several important ways:
BioGest contains Wild yam 1:1 extract from Mexican Wild yam. A liquid extract is superior to dried extracts or powdered Wild yam because it contains a high concentration of the active ingredient diosgenin, in a highly absorbable form. The extraction process occurs at the time of cream manufacture to ensure the freshest and most viable ingredients are included in the cream.
The Wild yam used in BioGest is organically grown thereby avoiding unwanted environmental oestrogens. One of the objectives of using a Wild yam cream is to provide a treatment free of the artificial oestrogens that pervade our environment. Wild yam that is not certified as organically grown is highly likely to have been sprayed with pesticides and therefore may contain artificial oestrogens.
The homeopathics of Wild yam and progesterone used in the BioGest formula are included in the cream to help direct body energy and assist in production of the enzyme cascade to help rebalance female hormone levels.
Most treatments for women suffering with symptoms of menopause aim to replace the loss of oestrogens as production from the ovaries diminishes. However women are still able to produce oestrogens from other hormones in body fat and muscle cells. The drop of oestrogens is estimated to only be about one half to one third of premenopausal baseline.
On the other hand progesterone production is thought to drop to 1/120 of baseline levels. This is where I believe a Wild Yam cream may be of assistance. Apart from containing phyto-oestrogens, one other ingredient in Wild Yam happens to be very similar in structure to that of natural progesterone.
The theory behind Wild Yam is that this ingredient (diosgenin) is absorbed through the skin and is able to be converted by enzymes to natural progesterone, thus replacing the loss of progesterone and restoring the balance.
