Flatulence (Relief)
About Flatulence
Flatulence occurs when a food does not break down completely in the stomach and small intestine. As a result, the food makes it into the large intestine in an undigested state. Certain foods produce more flatulence than others because they contain more indigestible carbohydrates than others. The unpleasant odour often associated with flatulence is generally attributed to sulfur-containing compounds, produced only by a particular bacteria not found in everyone.

What Can I Do About Preventing Flatulence?
Flatulence is most often related to diet, and sometimes to those habits that cause you to swallow air. You can begin by trying to remove the problem foods from your diet. For many people, this is a trial-and-error procedure. Activated charcoal tablets may provide relief from gas in the colon. Gas can be reduced if tablets are taken before and after a meal.
Additional information
If you suspect lactose intolerance is the problem, remove all dairy foods from your diet for 10-14 days to assess the effect on flatulence (using a diary). You should also avoid overeating as this contributes to flatulence, as well as obesity. Regulation of bowel function is essential. Constipation should be treated with increased dietary fibre or certain laxatives. Certain medicines and supplements may help reduce symptoms, especially if you have a disorder such as irritable bowel syndrome.
To be most effective, nutritional supplements work better in combination. It may be more beneficial to take a variety of Herbs or Nutrients for more rapid and complete healing...
