Parkinson's Disease
About Parkinsons Disease
Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder that is chronic and progressive, meaning that symptoms continue and worsen over time, the disease is a brain disorder, which occurs when certain nerve cells (neurons) in a part of the brain called the 'substantia nigra' die or become impaired. These cells normally produce a chemical known as dopamine. The loss of dopamine production in the brain causes the primary symptoms of Parkinson disease.

What Can I Do About Parkinson's Disease?
There are a number of effective medicines that help to ease the symptoms which are caused by lack of dopamine. The medicines most commonly used will attempt to either replace or mimic dopamine, which improves the tremor, rigidity and slowness associated with Parkinson disease. There are also some supplements available to assist in managing some of the symptoms of the disease. A clinical trial found that high doses of CoQ10 (up to 1200 mg) showed a possible slowing of disease progression in a small number of subjects, although these results are promising, researchers have not studied CoQ10 extensively enough to recommend it to Parkinson's patients as yet. Scientists have also examined Vitamin E, Vitamin C and health foods to evaluate their oxidative properties. Vitamin E can fight damage in the brain caused by free radicals, and has been suggested to lower the risk of Parkinson's Disease.
To be most effective, nutritional supplements work better in combination. It may be more beneficial to take a variety of Herbs or Nutrients for more rapid and complete healing...
