What Causes Warts?
Warts are passed from person to person, sometimes indirectly. The time from the first contact to the time the warts have grown large enough to be seen is often several months. The risk of catching hand, foot, or flat warts from another person is small.
What Can I Do About Warts?
There are several different lasers used for the treatment of warts. Laser therapy is used to destroy some types of warts. Lasers are more expensive and require the injection of a local anesthesia to numb the area treated. Another treatment is to inject each wart with an anti-cancer drug called bleomycin. The injections may be painful and can have other side effects. Home treatment is often effective in curing warts. Salicylic acid, an over-the-counter medication can be effective in managing the wart. Another alternative your doctor may use is liquid nitrogen to destroy your wart by freezing it.
Additional information
A more unconventional therapy involves duct tape. This is performed by covering your warts with duct tape for six days. After removing the tape, soak the warts in water and then gently rubbed the warts with an emery board or pumice stone. Repeat this process for up to two months or until their warts go away.
