Whole Earth & Sea® Fermented, Organic Protein & Greens is, as the name suggests, fermented and certified organic. It provides 20g of high-quality protein from pea, rice, quinoa, amaranth and hemp in every serve.
Fermentation has been shown to enhance protein quality by removing excess carbohydrates and concentrating amino acids. Fermentation has also been shown to preserve and even enhance nutrient availability and may create unique beneficial phytonutrients such as antioxidant flavonoids. Fermentation may also decrease the presence of antinutrients in foods such as phytates, which inhibit the absorption of iron, zinc and other minerals. In recent years, scientists have found that fermentation, a traditional food preservation technique, can enhance the bioavailability of nutrients from food, effectively ‘predigesting’ otherwise indigestible plant materials to release their full nutritional value whilst easing digestion. Fermentation also enhances protein quality and can produce unique polyphenolic compounds including antioxidant flavonoids. Fermented organic fruit, vegetable and grass blends are included in this formula for their alkalising effects on the body. Fruits and vegetables provide a rich source of phytonutrients and antioxidants to help protect against the damaging effects of free radicals in the body, as well as supporting general health and wellbeing. Consuming fermented foods can help support a healthy gut microbiota and promote digestion and overall health. For thousands of years, many cultures have used fermentation to extend the life of foods and provide good sustenance all-year-round. Add 1 scoop (32.8 g) to 250 mL of water or milk of choice and shake or blend until smooth. Keep out of the reach of children.
